Fishkill Causes Chaos. Chicken Prices Spiked

A few days ago, there were reports of massive fishkill(mostly of fresh water milk fish) in areas of Batangas and Pangasinan. This is due to factors like BOD(biological oxygen demand), water pollution as well as sudden weather changes. Tons and tons of fish were killed during this incident.

Millions and millions have been lost by the milk fish industry. It also affected not only the milk fish business but as well as other fresh water and salt water fishes sales as well.  I work at a public market and I saw how horrible the situation is. Not only the milk fish  but also the other fish variety(weather fresh or salt water fish) sold poorly.

Moreover, due to the incident, meat prices spiked up during this incident. Chicken prices increased from Php. 90.00, it's now Php. 92.00 (in wholesale) with anotherwave of price increase on the coming days. This incident couple that with the beginning of class next week will definitely blow the prices up(approximately Php. 98.00 to Php. 100.00 wholesale). Retail price would most likely be at Php. 125 to Php. 135.
